Peter Joyce

(Born 1964)

In 1985 Peter began exhibiting in London directly after graduating and his landscape paintings are included in many private, public and corporate collections throughout the world.

Peter works with areas regularly visited, explored and researched. This research is critical, as he needs to have a good working knowledge of an area’s history, geology and general atmosphere before it can become his subject.

Although Peter Joyce now spends much of his time at his marshland studio in France working with low horizons, big skies and wide shorelines, it is the landscape of his native Dorset for which he is most recognised. Chalk and Limestone have been the subject of his art for 25 years now, although within the last couple of years the paintings have gradually revealed a significant shift in Joyce’s perspective, which disclose an assured confidence in the handling of the new horizons. The critics and commercial markets agree, “this period has been a triumph for Joyce, he is painting at the height of his powers.”
